How to get clear skin: a question we’ve probably all asked ourselves at some point. After trying our fair share of
products that promise to transform our skin overnight, we know the disappointment that inevitably follows when,
in 24 hours, we’re still experiencing redness and breakouts. Instead of looking for an overnight cure or magic
bullet, try making these small changes each day to get glowing skin in less than a month.

Day 1: Visit a dermatologist. It may seem simple, but many people skip this step and subsequently treat their skin
the wrong way. A quick trip to a skin doctor can take out a lot of the guesswork in your beauty routine.

Day 2: Break bad habits by keeping hands off of your face. The bacteria on your fingers is only making your skin
problems worse.

Day 3: Wash your pillowcases once a week. Bacteria on your bedding can cause breakouts.

Day 4: Clean off your phone with an alcohol pad. Phones spend too much time near and on our faces to not be
clean.

Day 5: Choose a cleanser with salicylic acid, like Kate Somerville Purify Clarifying Cleanser ($32, katesomerville.

SOME HOME PILATES...
Single Leg Stretches

Stretches are an integral part of any Pilates routine and should be performed as part of your warm-up. Lie on the floor on your
back for single leg stretches. Bend your knees toward your chest. Open your knees to shoulder-width, but keep your feet
touching. Curl your head and shoulders off the floor as you slide your hands down to your ankles. Keep your navel drawn toward
your spine throughout the exercise. On your next exhale, extend your right leg, while drawing your left knee closer to your chest.
Inhale, and then on your next exhale, repeat on the other side. Do 10 times on each side, alternating sides as you go.

The Roll-Up

The roll-up is a beneficial Pilates exercise for strengthening your core muscles and toning your abdominal area. According to
"Fitness" magazine, this exercise is more effective than standard crunches because you use a fuller range of motion. To perform
the roll-up, lie on your back with your legs straight on the floor and your arms above your head. Inhale as you extend your arms
upward toward the ceiling; then gradually roll your upper body off the floor, ending with your arms pointing straight in front of you.
Roll down slowly and repeat 10 times.


The Hundred

According to "Fitness" magazine, the hundred can help to tone your abs and thighs. It is one of the core exercises in most Pilates
programs. The hundred is performed while lying on your back, with your legs bent and your arms by your sides. Lift your legs off
the floor, keeping them bent. Curl your head and shoulders up, keeping your lower back pressed into the floor. Contract your abs,
pulling them in toward your spine. Pump your arms up and down by your sides, keeping your arms straight and making a small,
controlled motion of no more than 6 inches. Breathe in for five arm pumps and exhale for five more. Perform 100 arm pumps.


Single Leg Circle

The single leg circle helps to isolate your adductor muscle, located on the side of your thigh, and mobilizes the hip joint. It also
helps to tone your abs and thighs and stretches your hamstrings. To perform the single leg circle, lie on your back with your legs
straight and your arms by your sides. Extend your right leg in the air at about a 45-degree angle from the floor with your hip rotated
outward, keeping your left leg on the floor. Inhale and make a small circular motion with your right leg, as though you are outlining
a circle on the ceiling. Perform five clockwise circles, then five counterclockwise circles. Repeat on the opposite leg.

of turmeric powder and make a paste of it by adding pineapple juice. Now apply this paste on your skin. Leave on till it dries completely. Now wash with lukewarm water.



3. Honey

Honey is known to possess antibacterial properties. Also honey is an excellent natural moisturizer. Naturally it can be used in more ways than one to keep your skin healthy
and clear. You can directly apply raw organic honey to your skin, leave on for about half an hour and then rinse with lukewarm water. Or you may take about a teaspoon of
honey, mix in with double that quantity of milk and stir in some gram flour to make a paste. Apply it on your skin. Leave on for about twenty minutes. Now wash

properties. As such it can help you achieve clear skin by fighting off skin problems like acne, blemishes etc. Plus it acts as an exfoliating agent that removes dirt, dead cells
and other impurities from your skin thereby making it clear. Make a paste by adding baking soda to fresh lemon juice and water. Use this as a skin cleanser. Then rinse with
lukewarm water. You could also make a paste of baking soda and honey and apply it on your skin. Leave for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water thoroughly.



6. Cucumber

Cucumbers are known to possess hydrating, nourishing and astringent properties that are essential for a clear skin. You can make a habit of rubbing thickly sliced and
peeled cucumber pieces to your skin at bedtime on a daily basis. You can wash it off in the morning. If this sounds uncomfortable, then grate cucumber, mash it and add
some lemon juice to it. Apply it on your skin and allow it to dry completely. Now rinse thoroughly. You may do this daily for best results.



7. Papaya

Papaya is known to contain an enzyme called papain that has antibacterial properties. It can help you to heal any wound or scar on your skin. It can cure dead and damaged
skin to turn it fresh and clear. It is also known to possess natural bleaching properties that can enhance the texture of your skin. You can take pulp of papaya and add to it
a spoon of sandalwood powder and honey. Mash all these to make a smooth paste. You can also add a little rose water to it. Leave on for about twenty to thirty minutes.

8. Walnut

and allow it to dry. When dry, you may gently rub it with your fingers using upward and circular strokes. Do this for about a minute or so. Then wash well with lukewarm

One of the main reasons behind dull and lifeless skin is the activities of the free radicals. Coconut oil has rich anti oxidant properties that can combat this giving you back
clear glowing skin. Along with that coconut oil is also known to possess antibacterial and antifungal properties. Also it is a moisturizing agent that can penetrate deep
within the layers of your skin to hydrate it well. You may mildly heat coconut oil and gently massage it to your skin. Leave on for about ten minutes and then wash
thoroughly with lukewarm water.



10. Mint

Mint is known to contain menthol that soothes and cools your skin and also has healing properties that can fight away skin infections thereby giving you clear skin. Make
a paste using mint, yogurt and fuller’s earth. Let it rest for a while, and then apply it on your skin. Leave it on till it dries. Then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

How to avoid the plate...



1.       Every day when you can, make a to-do list for yourself. This will keep your mind off of eating. Here are some examples:

a.       Do laundry

b.      Do the dishes



c.       Clean the kitchen



d.      Vacuum, dust



e.      Take out the trash/recycling



f.        Run to the bank



g.       Go shopping at the mall without the intent to buy anything (Double Whammy – avoid the Food Court area and try on clothes you love but know
will be too small; try on clothes a size or two smaller)



2.       Keep topped up with these ingredients!



a.       Caffeine pills



b.      Diet soda (I drink Coke Zero – 0 cal, 0 carb)



c.       Energy drinks (Monster Energy – Absolutely Zero is the best! 0 cal, 0 carb)



d.      Bouillon Cubes (5 cal/cube, fat free)



e.      Water, Juice, Drink mixes, etc.



3.       Things you can do when you start getting hungry and are afraid you might binge:



a.       Smoke a cigarette. (If you are not already a smoker, pleasedo not start because of this suggestion!) I am not a habitual smoker but I will
sometimes have one before bed when I feel like I'm about to binge.



b.      Drink a glass of water quickly (will make you gag a little). Makes you slightly nauseous and decrease your desire for solid food.



c.       Drink a diet soda instead; tell yourself it’s a meal.



d.      Take your clothes off and look at your body in the mirror. Pinch bits of fat and think about what you ate that did that: here is the bowl of pasta,
there’s that slice of pizza, the bag of chips, those peanut butter cookies, etc. Ask yourself if it was really worth it.



e.      If you’re wearing jeans, put on shorts and sit with your thighs pushed down against the surface of a chair/bed/etc. Think about how
disgusting they are; like flat fat fucking pancakes oozing with fatty syrup and whipped cream.



f.        Tell yourself that your body is confused. It isn’t hungry, it’s tired. Take a nap.



g.       Clean something.



h.      Brush your teeth. If you have a retainer, put that in.



i.         Paint your nails



j.        Put on lipstick or gloss



k.       Turn on your computer/open a magazine and look at thinspo.



l.         If you have Netflix, watch Heavy or the Intervention episodes with eating disordered people (Intervention obviously will not be triggering for
everyone, but it is for me).



m.    Watch America’s Next Top Model or The Biggest Loser



n.      Watch a gory movie. i.e Hostel or any of the Saw films.



o.      Put on your little sister’s t-shirt (or an old one of your own thatused to fit).



p.      Look at the clock. Tell yourself that you have 25 minutes. After 25 minutes drink a big glass of water. Weigh yourself. Look in the mirror. Look
at your thighs. Still hungry?



q.      If you are craving a specific food, Google “Fat person eating _____.” If you don’t find a good enough image try, “Most disgusting ______.” The
goal being to lessen the craving by either drawing a parallel from the food to rapid fat gain, or just by making it look as unappealing as possible.



4.       Always have a diet soda, bottled water, tea, chewing gum (5 cal/piece), or coffee with you when you are away from the house in case you get
hungry or feel faint due to low blood sugar.



5.       Never carry extra money with you when you go out! Only bring what you know you need.

If someone asks you to eat with them say that:



a.       You don’t feel well



b.      You just ate, like, a ton



c.       You’re not really that hungry



d.      You didn’t bring enough cash



e.      You already have plans to eat later (fancy restaurant, not paying, gotta save up )



f.        You don’t have time for a full meal



g.       You just watched “Food Inc.” and are currently disgusted by the sight of chicken. Works well for KFC, fast food, Buffalo Wild Wings, Raising
Canes, etc.



HOWEVER:  Say that you might just have a soda or something and get a Diet Coke, Coke Zero, etc. or UNSWEETENED iced tea ( you can add
splenda or sweet and low). This keeps them from getting suspicious.



7. Get obsessed with a hobby, a fandom, take up martial arts, start knitting, try to get social with people online so you dont feel you have time to
eat much.

8. If you're hungry, chew on some ice cubes. IT feels like you're eating, just without the fat and calories.. Also ice cubes help burn calories


9. Start a thinspo blog


10. Exercise or take a walk


11. Clip coupons for makeup and beauty products- the less money you spend on food, the more you have to accessorize yourself.
